Gave up...

I once had hope for humanity, thinking that the essential being of us is goodness, and that badness is an acquired thing. But it seems now that greed, selfishness, and kiasuism is so prevalent in our society that it takes a tremendous willpower for the goodness within us to overcome all the temptation. Most of the times, we'll just take the easy way out, and let the staus quo prevails, lulling us into believing that the actions we have just taken is correct, since everyone is also doing it.
But we just need to dwell deeper into our soul, and we know, subconciously, that it is not. The battle to do the right thing is a hard one to be won. I am fighting this battle myself, needing to be conscious of every thing I say or do, so as not to cause harm to others, to control myself to not take the shortcut, to not step on other people. I hope I have the strengh to do the right thing when it comes down to it. And I hope all of us will also have the presence of mind to balance what is good for us, and what is good for the rest.
I hope there is still hope for humanity.
